Restoring data from a backup copy
Use the Sage 300. You can:
icon to load data into- Restore Sage 300 data that you backed up previously.
- Refresh your sample data.
Only the Sage 300 administrator (ADMIN user) can back up data or restore data from a backup copy.
Warning! Restoring data from a backup deletes any existing data in the target database before restoring the backed-up data.
Do not restore data that was backed up from a database that is larger than the size limit set by your Sage business partner. Trying to do so will corrupt your database.
To restore your data from a backup:
- Make sure no users are logged in to your company database.
- On the Sage 300 home page, click .
- Click
Note: The DCT file is a control file. The extracted data is in a subfolder with the same name as the DCT file.
, and then specify the folder that contains the DCT file for the extracted (backed-up) data you want to restore. - Select the first dataset that you want to restore, and then click
You can select, in turn, each of the datasets you want to load (for example, a company and then a sample dataset).
. - Select the target database, and then click .
- On the screen that appears, check that the datasets and destination are correct.
- To specify another dataset, click , and then repeat steps 4 and 5.
- Click to load the selected datasets.
Note: If the target database already contains data, the application warns that existing data will be overwritten. Check that you are loading the data into the correct location, and then click or .
- When loading is finished, click to end the session.
