Adding Tax Classes
You must define tax classes for sales and purchases for each tax authority in Sage 300. You can define up to 10 tax classes for each of the following:
- Customers
- Sales items
- Vendors
- Purchase items
Before you start
Before adding tax classes, you must add tax authorities.
To add or edit tax classes:
- Tax Services > Tax Setup > Tax Classes.
- Select a Tax Authority, Transaction Type, and Class Type.
- In the Tax Class Description field, enter a name for the first class.
Note: Your first class should be your standard taxable class.
- Add the remaining necessary classes.
- Click Save.
- Repeat the same steps for the other class type for the table. For example, if you entered customer classes in the sales tax table, now enter item classes. If you do not do this, you cannot enter rates in the table.
After adding tax classes
- You can print a list of the tax classes you have added or edited. For more information, see Tax Classes Report.
- Enter tax rates.
