Copying Databases

You use the Database Copy utility (DBCOPY.EXE) to copy the contents of one database to another database without creating an interim extracted dataset.

Create the target database and register it for use in the Sage 300 Database Setup program.

To copy a database:

  1. On the Windows Start menu, click Sage 300 > Tools > Database Copy.
  2. Enter your user ID and password, and then click OK.
  3. Select the database that you want to copy, and then click Next. (The database list comes from the SharedData entry in the Windows registry.)
  4. Select the target database, and then click Next.

    Database Copy lists all databases of the same type (that is, system or company) except for the source database.

  5. Confirm that the source and target databases are correct, and then click Finish.
