Create Databases and Datasource Names (DSNs) in Pervasive.SQL

Before you start

  • In the Sage 300\Data directory, add a 6-character subfolder for your system database, then add another for your company database. For example, you might have:

    • C:\Programs\Sage 300\DATA\GLDSYS (for your system database)
    • C:\Programs\Sage 300\DATA\GLDLTD (for your company database)

Remarque : These names are a unique code of 6 characters that identifies a system or company database. The code can consist of letters from A to Z, or digits from 0 to 9, or any combination of both.

  • If you plan to use Sage 300 web screens, create a separate folder for the portal database.

To create a database in Pervasive.SQL:

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Pervasive > Pervasive.SQL Control Center.
  2. In the Common Tasks section in the right panel, click New Database.

    The New Database window opens.

  3. In the Server field, click the down arrow, select a server from the list, and then click Next.
  4. In the Database Name field, type the name of the folder you created for the database.

Remarque : The folder name and the database name must be identical.

  5. In the Location field, type the path to the folder you created for the database.
  6. In the DBName Options section, select Bound and Create Dictionary Files.

Do not select the Relational Integrity Enforced option, as Sage 300 checks integrity.

  7. Select the Create DSN option, and leave Normal as the Open Mode.

Remarque : The DSN is used in Database Setup when you set up the database.

  8. Click Finish.
  9. Create other databases (for example, if you created a system database, now create a company database).
  10. Close the Pervasive.SQL Control Center.
