Adding and Editing Distribution Codes
Before you start
Make sure General Ledger's chart of accounts includes the accounts you want to use in bank entries.
To add or edit a distribution code:
- Bank Services > Bank Setup > Distribution Codes. Bank Services > Bank Setup > Distribution Codes.
- In the Distribution Code field, enter a unique code to identify the type of transaction, using up to six alphanumeric characters, or, specify an existing distribution code that you want to edit or delete.
- In the Distribution Code Description field, enter a description for the code using up to 60 alphanumeric characters.
- In the G/L Account field, specify the account to debit or credit when you post bank transactions that use this distribution code.

On the table at the bottom of the screen, using a separate line for each tax authority payable for this type of transaction:
- In the Tax Authority field, specify the code for the necessary tax authority.
- In the Tax Class field, change the tax class, if necessary.
- Double-click the Tax Included field to change the entry from No to Yes, as permitted by the tax authority.
- To add another line, click Add Line and repeat the steps. Otherwise, click Save.
After adding or editing a distribution code
- Print a list of distribution codes. For more information, see Printing the Bank Distribution Codes Report.

After adding distribution codes, you can:
- Select a default distribution code for Bank Services on the Processing tab of the Bank Options screen.
- Add distribution sets that consist of groups of distribution codes and/or general ledger accounts.
