About Visual Process Flows

A visual process flow is an interactive workflow diagram that shows the steps required to complete a complex task or process. You can click each step to access the screen or feature that allows you to perform the step.

Process Flow Templates and Custom Process Flows

Sage 300 includes some process flow templates. You can use these templates as they are, or you can customize them to create your own process flows, based on your organization's specific processes.

When creating a new custom process flow, you must start with an existing flow. You can use a process flow template or a custom process flow as your starting point.

You cannot save over a template, so when you create a custom process flow using a template as your starting point, only the Save As button is available.

The Visual Process Flow Designer

You use the Visual Process Flow Designer to create custom process flows. For detailed instructions, see Creating Custom Visual Process Flows.

Process Flows can include graphic elements and text elements, and for any of these elements you can specify what happens when the element is clicked. For example, you can specify that clicking an element will:

  • Open a Sage 300 screen, another process flow, or a report file.
  • Run a program or macro.
  • Show or hide other elements in the process flow.

For more information about tools and features in the Visual Process Flow Designer, see:

The Visual Process Flow Designer is used by multiple Sage business management solutions. Some fields and controls in the Visual Process Flow Designer are not used in Sage 300.
