Setting Up Payroll for EI

To configure your Sage 300 Payroll system for EI processing:

• Set up the EI tax. (For more information, see Income Taxes.) 
• For each earning subject to EI tax, assign the EI tax to that earning. (For more information, see Using Earnings And Deductions.)
• Assign the EI tax to employees. (For more information, see Assign Earn/Ded to Employees to Employees.)

After you have configured your system, the Payroll program automatically calculates and tracks federal (or Quebec) EI information whenever you process paycheques. If you enter timecards or manual cheques during payroll processing, be sure to enter the information required for proper EI processing, such as the number of hours worked and the rate/amount/percent of the earning.
