Adding Bills of Material
Use the I/C Bills of Material screen to set up bills of material for master items that you assemble or repackage from component items.
- Decide on the bill of material numbers (BOM numbers) to use. BOM numbers can be up to six characters long.
- Add the item records for the master items you will create and for the component items you will use when you assemble those master items. (See Adding Inventory Items Using the Items Wizard.)
- Collect the fixed and variable costs associated with assembling the master item.
To add bills of material for manufacturing inventory items:

Inventory Control > I/C Items and Price Lists > Bills of Material.
- In the Master Item Number field, enter the inventory item for which you are adding a bill of material, or use the Finder to select it.
Note: The item must exist before you can add a BOM.
- In the BOM Number field, enter a number or
a code.
You must enter a BOM number (for example, "1").
- Click the Go button, and then fill in the remaining fields in the top portion of the screen. More...
- In the table, add the component items to
the bill of material.
Tip: Components can also be master items. You can change or add components to component BOMs.
- When you have finished adding components, click Add.
