About Customizing the Desktop

You can customize the Sage 300 desktop to suit your needs:

  • Change the way items are displayed in folders.
  • Save a setting to use a printer other than the default at the time you print forms.
  • Add new folders and items to your desktop, and rearrange existing objects (if authorized to do so). For example, you could create folders that contain only the applications, macros, and reports you use regularly. You could also create a startup folder that starts all applications in the folder at sign-on.
  • Customize your business forms for Sage 300 data (if your version of Sage 300 supports the customization directories feature). The system administrator must specify the directories where you store your forms.
  • Create a VB macro to display your own desktop items.

Administrators can use the following screens to customize the appearance of Sage 300 screens:

  • Database Setup — Assign a unique color to each company. This color appears in a border around Sage 300 screens, making it easier to see which company's information you are viewing and avoid data entry errors.
  • UI Profile Maintenance — Customize Sage 300 screens to hide fields for specific users.

If you change your display or personalized settings, the program automatically creates a A4W.INI file in the Sage 300 Runtime folder.
