General questions
- Web screens are redesigned versions of Sage 300 desktop screens that you use in a web browser. You open web screens from a new browser-based home page, which also features widgets that you can customize to display key business information.
- The Sage 300 Portal is no longer available.
In Sage 300 2018 and earlier versions, it provided access to Sage 300 desktop screens in a web browser, and featured an ad hoc Inquiry tool. About the Sage 300cloud Inquiry Tool.
- Web deployment is no longer available.
In Sage 300 2018 and earlier versions, it provided a web-based platform for accessing Sage 300 desktop screens using IIS and remote access technology (Microsoft .NET Framework or Distributed COM remoting).
Yes. The Sage 300 Portal is no longer available, and features it provided are now available in web screens, including ad hoc inquiry and support for the quotes-to-orders feature in Sage CRM.
Web screens use the Portal database, so if you already use the Portal, you do not need to create or set up a new database to start using web screens. For more information, see Installing Sage 300cloud Web Screens.
Not all modules and screens from the Sage 300 Desktop are available as web screens.

While most of the web screens are similar to their counterparts in the Sage 300 Desktop, the new screens have been redesigned to work in a browser and deliver an improved user experience.
Among other changes, we've spelled out potentially confusing abbreviated labels, revised messages so they're simpler and friendlier, and redesigned a number of controls on the user interface to streamline and simplify tasks.
Yes, you can. For example, if you have customized some desktop screens, you can continue to use those while using the web screens for other tasks.
You do not need to install any software other than a web browser. However, all computers or devices that will be used to access the web screens must be connected to the network on which the Sage 300 server is running.
Each user can sign in to web screens in only one browser window or tab at a time. If you want to use web screens in multiple browser windows or tabs, as a workaround, you can sign in using different browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox.

Reporting and intelligence
Reports in Sage 300 are generated in one of the following ways:
- Using Sage Intelligence Reporting Cloud
- Using report printing screens in Sage 300

To use Sage Intelligence Reporting Cloud, users must be assigned to a security group with Financial Reporter security authorization for Sage 300 General Ledger and Sage 300 Web API security authorization for Sage 300 Common Services.
Also, for the ADMIN user you must customize two Sage 300 program files. For more information, see Sage Knowledgebase article 84722.
Yes, with exceptions. If you have customized versions of the standard forms and reports included with Sage 300, they will be available in web screens, as long as the report file name has not been changed. You can also use the Reports list to create a list of links to the custom reports you and your team use most often.

You can use any computer or device with a current web browser to view and use web screens.
The screens are not optimized for display on mobile devices, so are not currently recommended for use on a tablet or mobile phone.
Current versions of the most popular web browsers are supported.

No. Web screens use Microsoft .NET and Internet Information Services (IIS).
The Sage 300 Portal, which is no longer available, used Apache Tomcat.
Customization
Yes, with exceptions. If you have customized versions of the standard forms and reports included with Sage 300, they will be available in web screens, as long as the report file name has not been changed. You can also use the Reports list to create a list of links to the custom reports you and your team use most often.
All existing customizations are supported in desktop screens, but not in web screens.
Most web screens can be customized by administrators using the Customize menu option. Partners and ISVs can use the Software Development Kit (SDK) and Web Application Program Interface (API) to create custom services and features for Sage 300cloud web screens.
Macros are not supported in web screens, but are still supported in desktop screens.
Modifying these files to make changes to web screens is not supported.
You can continue to modify these files to make changes to the Sage 300 Desktop.
Yes, an SDK is available for Sage 300 web screens, as well as a Web Application Program Interface (API).
