About Deleting Locations
You can delete locations one at a time using the Locations screen (the same screen you use to add locations to Inventory Control).
You can also use the Delete Inactive Records screen in the I/C Periodic Processing folder to delete groups of inactive locations.
Note: You cannot delete a location if any item records are assigned to it, or if any inventory worksheets exist for the location. You must first assign its item records to another location, or delete the items. If an inventory worksheet exists for the location, delete it also.
Setting Locations Inactive before Deletion
Before trying to delete a location, you can set the location record Inactive to ensure that no additional items are assigned to it. You can then wait until the end of the fiscal or calendar year to delete it (depending on the method you use to accumulate item statistics).
Use the I/C Locations screen to set locations Inactive. See I/C Locations Screen for more information.
Identifying Inactive Locations
Print the I/C Locations report to identify inactive locations. If a location is inactive, the date it was made inactive appears on this report below the Last Maintained date in the Telephone/Fax column. See Printing the Locations Report for more information.
