Changes in System Manager 5.6

In version 5.6, System Manager includes the following changes:

• We introduce vastly simplified program installation and activation procedures.

• You can install, upgrade, or modify all your Sage 300 programs from one DVD in one smooth process.

  Once you select the edition of Sage 300 and applications that you use, the installation program checks for the required activation codes, prompting you for any that you need to enter manually. (If you do not have activation codes, you can use the 30-day trial license.) Installation then installs the Sage 300 programs in folders that you specify.

• Similarly, you can activate all your Sage 300 programs in a single process. Now, you select all the programs you want to activate on the Data Activation form, and then click once to begin activation.

• A new License Manager that launches during program installation, letting you enter serial numbers and activation codes for your new Sage 300 programs and LanPaks. You can also open the License Manager, later, from the Sage 300 desktop.

  You open the License Manager from the Sage 300 desktop if you need to:

  • View licensing information for your Sage 300 programs, including the number of users authorized under each LanPak license.
  • Enter serial numbers and activation codes for the Sage 300 programs and services that your company is using.

  • When necessary, change the company name to which your Sage 300 software is registered.

    For instance, you may need to change the company name after a merger.

    To change the company name on the License Information tab, you click the Change button, and then type the new name in the Company field.

    When you next open the License Manager, the company field will be disabled, unless you click Change again.

• Several new security authorizations for Bank Services users.

  The Security Groups form in Administrative Services provides the following new security authorizations for Bank Services:

  • Reverse Bank Entries
  • Post Bank Entries
  • Transaction History Inquiry
  • Print Deposit Register
  • Clear History
  • Setup Maintenance

  In addition, we have renamed the Return Customer Receipts authorization. It is now called Reverse Customer Receipts.

• Several new security authorizations for US and Canadian Payroll users.

  The Security Groups form in Administrative Services provides the following security authorizations for US and Canadian Payroll:

  • Employee Security Setup
  • Selection List Maintenance
  • Transfer Employee Timecard.

  These changes support the new Employee Level Security features added to US and Canadian Payroll in this version.

• System Manager help includes an overview of periodic processing throughout your Sage 300 system, and provides instructions for printing the day-end, period-end, and year-end processing checklists that ship with the program.

  Note that Bank Services 5.6 offers many keenly anticipated improvements to reconciliation and bank transaction processing. For more information, see "What's New in Bank Services 5.6", in Bank Services' help.

• Separate installation of and help for Bank Services and Tax Services.
• Sage 300 version 5.6 does not support IBM DB2 databases.
