Recording a Macro

To record a macro:

  1. On the Sage 300 Desktop, click Macro > Record Macro.

    The Start Recording screen appears.

  2. Enter the following information:

    • Macro File. Enter a name for the macro you are recording, including the file extension.

Important! Do not save your macros in a subfolder of Program Files\Sage 300. If you delete the \Sage 300 folder to reinstall Sage 300, later, your macros will be lost.

    • Record Mode. Select one of the following:
      • Record Only Fields That Change. To record key fields and all other fields you edit and save.
      • Record All Fields. To record all fields that you access.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Carry out the tasks that you want the macro to perform.

Macros record all operations that update your accounting data. They do not record keystrokes and mouse action in Sage 300.

  5. To stop recording, click Macros > Stop Macro Recording.

When you click Stop Macro Recording, Sage 300 displays the macro in the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor, where you can use the commands on the menus or on the toolbar to run, edit, debug, print, and save the macro.
