Counting and Reconciling Inventory Quantities

This topic provides an overview of the steps in the stocktaking process.

Inventory Control includes several screens to help you physically count inventory items, enter the differences, and post adjustments for the differences between the physical counts and the calculated quantities-on-hand in your Inventory Control system.

To count and reconcile inventory quantities:

  1. Use the I/C Generate Inventory Worksheet screen to generate inventory worksheets, .
  2. Use the I/C Inventory Worksheet report screen to print the inventory worksheets that you generated.
  3. Count the items in stock. You can write down the quantities, status changes, and comments on the inventory worksheets.
  4. Use either the I/C Inventory Counts screen or the I/C Physical Inventory Quantities screen to enter counted item quantities.
  5. Use the I/C Inventory Reconciliation Report screen to print the I/C Inventory Reconciliation report and then check that the counts (and other details you entered) are accurate for each location. (Optional)
  6. Use the I/C Post Inventory Reconciliation screen to post the inventory reconciliation.
  7. Print the I/C Inventory Reconciliation Report again and confirm that all items were posted (except items with a status of On Hold). For information about reasons items may not be posted, see Inventory Reconciliation Errors.
