About Importing and Exporting General Ledger Data

Importing Data to General Ledger

General Ledger lets you export data, such as account master information and transaction batches, to files that can be read and used by other programs. Transferring this information to non-Sage 300 databases is called exporting.

Example: One common use of the Export/Import functions is to export account balances (or net amounts) to a spreadsheet for analysis and manipulation. Then, import this information as next year's budget information.

To export General Ledger information, follow these general steps:

  1. Open the screen for the data you want to export.
  2. Click Options > Export.
  3. Click Browse, and then specify the location and file to export to.
  4. Expandable items can be clicked in order to view and specify the list of fields to export.
  5. If there are fields that you do not want to export, clear the checkbox for that field.

Note: Items with a star beside the check mark are key fields that you must export.

  6. Click Export to begin the export.

When the export is finished, you receive a message that displays the number of records exported.
