About Jobs Allocated Based on Calc Base

This field is available only if you use Sage 300 Project and Job Costing. This field is used only for an earning whose employee calculation method is Amount Per Hour or Percentage Of Base.

The payroll program calculates the cost of these types of earnings, based on other earnings that you defined as their calculation base earnings during earning/deduction setup.

Allocating to Jobs

If you want to allocate the cost of a Percentage Of Base (or Amount Per Hour) earning to jobs, this option determines whether you manually enter the earning on the timecard:

If, for example, you allocated the base earnings to Job 1 and Job 2, then you must allocate the Percentage Of Base (or Amount Per Hour) earning only to Job 1, 2, or both. If you allocate the earning to an unrelated job, such as Job 3, the allocation will not occur.

The selection you make on the employee record becomes the default for the earning when you enter the earning on the Timecards window for the employee. You can change it on the timecard if necessary.

Note: This option is not available during manual cheque entry, because you must manually calculate and enter all amounts, and you can allocate the cost of any earning to any job of your choice.

An Example of Allocating Jobs

To illustrate how this option works, assume you have set up the following earnings:

Earning

Based On

Hourly Rate

N/A

Percentage of Base

50% of the Hourly Rate amount

Assume that the following hours were worked at the Hourly Rate, for a total of $125, and, using the timecard, you allocated the $125 to Jobs 1 and 2, as follows:

Hours worked

Total

Allocated to:

5 hours @ $10

$ 50

Job 1

5 hours @ $15

$ 75

Job 2

Total

$125

The Percentage of Base earning would be calculated automatically as 50% of the Hourly Rate amount.
