Performing Day End Processing
Perform Day End Processing as part of your daily routine, to keep your audit trail and reports up to date. You can run Day End Processing as many times a day as you want. More...
- Post all the transactions that you want to be processed. Any transactions you post while Day End Processing is running will not be processed if processing has already been completed for the transaction type.
To be sure of processing all the day's transactions, post them before starting Day End Processing.
- Back up your Purchase Orders data. For information about making backups, see the System Manager help.
- Allow enough time to perform day-end processing. The time it takes to complete day-end processing varies according to your computer and the number of transactions you entered since the last time you ran Day End Processing.
Tip: We recommend that you run Day End Processing when you do not need to use your computer for other tasks. You might find it best to run it overnight.
- Assign a default cost expense account. If you use Purchase Orders as a stand-alone system (without Inventory Control), you must assign a default cost expense account in the P/O G/L Integration screen.
To perform day-end processing in a stand-alone Purchase Orders system:
-
Purchase Orders > P/O Periodic Processing > Day End Processing.
(If you use Inventory Control, you must open Inventory Control > I/C Periodic Processing > Day End Processing.)
- Click Process.
A message appears to confirm that processing is complete.
- Click OK or press the Enter key to close the message and the Day End Processing screen.
Before you post new transactions:
- Print the posting journals for a record of the general ledger entries created from Purchase Orders transactions, both in Purchase Orders and in Accounts Payable.
- Print any reports that you need for updating your records.
- Modify options in the A/P Options screen, as needed.
