Activating Applications
After installing Sage 300, you must activate the applications that you want to use.
- Install the Sage 300 applications that you want to use.
- Obtain activation codes for the applications that you want to activate, unless you are activating using a 30-day trial license.
-
If you are upgrading from a previous version of Sage 300:
- Back up your system and company databases.
If there is a serious error—for example, a power blackout—during activation, you will need to restore your data from your backup.
- Upgrade your system database. (The first time you start Sage 300 after installing a new version, a message appears asking if you want to upgrade your database.)
- Back up your system and company databases.
To activate Sage 300 applications:
-
Administrative Services > Data Activation.
Tip: You can also open this screen from the Windows Start menu (under Sage 300 Admin Utilities).
- When asked whether you are ready to proceed with activation, click Yes.
The Data Activation screen appears, displaying a list of applications that you can activate.
- Select the check box beside each application for which you want to activate data.
As you select applications, the activation program:
- Automatically selects any applications that must be activated first.
If you do not want to activate an application that another application requires, you must clear the selection for the dependent application before you can clear the required application. For more information, see Program Dependencies.
Ensures that the selected applications can be activated, by confirming that:
- The applications you selected are ready for activation.
- All required applications have been activated or are being activated during this process.
For example, if you are trying to activate Order Entry, either a compatible version of Inventory Control must already be active, or it must now be selected for activation.
Note: If you select Account Code Change, Customer Number Change, Item Number Change, Vendor Number Change, Ops Inquiry, or Sales Analysis, a screen appears asking if you want to activate the selected application.
- Automatically selects any applications that must be activated first.
-
If the program displays a message saying that you cannot activate an application at this time:
- Close the Data Activation screen.
- Correct the problems described in the error message.
- Reopen the Data Activation screen, and continue the process.
- When you finish selecting applications, click Next, and then click Activate.
