Registering Serial Numbers for Customer Warranties
You can register serial numbers for warranty management purposes when you sell serialized inventory items, or when you receive completed registration forms from your customers.
The inventory item record for each serialized item specifies the type of warranty, and whether to place the item on warranty when it is sold or when it is registered.
Note: You can register warranties only for serialized items.

Find out the I/C shipment number, the O/E invoice, or the O/E debit note in which the serial number was assigned to the item.
Note: You must enter the number of the document that assigned the serial number when you register the serial number.
To register a serial number for warranty purposes:
- Inventory Control > I/C Periodic Processing > Serial Registration.
- Use the Document Type list and the Document Number field to identify the transaction that assigned the serial number.
- In the Item Number field, specify the item to which the serial number was assigned.
You must enter an item number that was included in the specified document.
- In the Serial Number field, specify the serial number you are registering.
You must specify a serial number that was assigned to the item in the specified document.
- Click Register.

For a list of serialized items with registered warranties, generate a Serial/Lot Stock Listing report, selecting Registered as the Report Type.
