You use the I/C Items screen to edit items in Inventory Control.

You can change most of the item information at any time, with these restrictions:

After you make an item inactive:
- You cannot post receipts, shipments, adjustments, assemblies, or transfers for that item.
- You cannot use the item as an alternate item.
You cannot assign an item to a category or an account set that has an Inactive status.
You cannot directly change an item number.
You must first create a new item with the new number, copy the item information to the new item, then delete the old item.
You cannot select a different item structure code for an existing item.
You cannot change a stock item to a non-stock item unless:
- The total cost and quantity for the item is zero at all locations, and the item is removed from all locations using the I/C Location Details screen or the I/C Locations screen.
- The account set and category codes for the item are active.
- The item is assigned an account set that uses the user-specified costing method.
