Customizing and printing reports

You can modify some of the standard reports that come with Sage 300, save them in the SharedData folder on the F: drive, and use the custom report formats to print reports.

Customizing reports

The standard reports that come with Sage 300 are available in the F:\Reports folder. We recommend not modifying report files directly in the F:\Reports folder. Instead, copy the report files from the F:\Reports folder to your F:\SharedData folder or one of your local folders, and customize the copies.

To customize reports, you need Crystal Report Designer and a local installation of Microsoft SQL Server. Alternatively, you can contact a Sage 300 Partner who offers customization services for modifying default reports or writing custom reports.

Saving custom reports

After creating a custom report, you must save it on the Data Drive in F:\SharedData\folder\application\language, where:

  • folder is the folder where you will store all your custom reports. We recommend naming this folder Custom, though you can give it any name you want.

Important! You must specify this folder as your customization directory on the Customization Directories screen.

  • application is the code for the application, such as OE65A.

Some custom reports require an INI or DLL file. You save these files in this folder.

  • language is the language code for the application, such as ENG.

You save RPT files in this folder.

For example, to customize the OEINV01.RPT report, copy files to the F: drive as follows:

  • In F:\SharedData\Custom\OE65A:
    • oerpt.ini
    • OEINPR3.DLL
  • In F:\SharedData\Custom\OE65A\ENG:
    • OEINV01.RPT

Printing custom reports

Some Sage 300 report screens let you select a report format that has been customized for your company. These screens include a Browse button beside the report selection field.

Note: When you click Browse, you may see a message that says something like "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer." If you see this message, you can safely click OK and proceed.

To print a custom report, you browse to the folder on the F: drive where the report is stored and select it. For example, instead of printing the default Accounts Receivable receipt (F:\Reports\ENG\AR65A\arrcpt.rpt), you might select F:\SharedData\Custom\AR65A\ENG\receipt.rpt.

Important! You must include the entire path to the custom report.

After you specify the path and you close the screen, the report path is saved for you as an individual user.
