Creating Actions to Show or Hide Elements

For any element in a process flow, you can create an 'action' to specify that when the element is clicked, other elements in the process flow will be shown or hidden.

To create an action:

  1. On a blank line in the Actions screen, specify the following:
    • In the field at the left, enter the number of one or more elements that will invoke the action.

Note: When entering multiple elements, separate the element numbers with a comma (for example: 23,24,25).

    • In the middle field, select a type of action:
      • show as mini menu. Click the invoking element to show or hide a single text element. This target text element is now considered a mini menu for the purposes of the lock/unlock mini menus action.
      • lock/unlock mini menus. Click the invoking element to show or hide all mini menus.
      • show as tooltip. Point to the invoking element to show the target element.
      • show/hide. Click the invoking element to show or hide the target element.
      • show. Click the invoking element to show the target element.
      • hide. Click the invoking element to hide the target element.
    • In the field at the right, enter the number of one or more target elements.
  2. On the toolbar (near the top left of the Visual Process Flow Designer), click the actions Actions button tool.

Identifying numbers are displayed for elements in the process flow, and a screen appears that you use to set up actions.

  3. On a blank line, specify settings for the action:
    • In the Type field, select an action type:
      • show_hide. Clicking the trigger element shows or hides the target element.
      • show. Clicking the trigger element shows the target element.
      • hide. Clicking the trigger element hides the target element.
    • In the Trigger field, enter the number of one or more elements that will trigger the action.

Note: When entering multiple elements, separate the element numbers with a comma (for example: 23,24,25).

    • In the Target field, enter the number of one or more target elements.
  4. Click OK.
